UPSC CSE Prelims Exam Scheme/Format
The exam pattern for UPSC IAS is listed in the table below. The General Studies and CSAT papers make up the Prelims test. There are 100 marks in the IAS GS paper and 80 marks in the CSAT. To be eligible for the UPSC Prelims, a minimum of 33% on the CSAT is required. The CSAT Paper 2 will be of a qualifying character (33% marks), and the marks from Paper 1 will be used to create the merit list.
- Both Hindi and English are used for the question papers.
- The Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format will be used for the exam in the IAS Prelims.
- The Paper I marks are taken into account for determining eligibility for the Mains.
- You only need 33% of the available points to pass GS Paper II (CSAT), which is qualifying in nature.
- There will be four hours allotted to completing the two papers.
